The Death of I

J.P. Iglesias

A wedding vow

Take me to the hallowed stone,

where Life is given

but blood not spilt,

so in perfect ceremony of Love's rite

the I of mine

is slain in sacrifice.

May my mother say goodbye,

may my father watch close by,

as the I that I am

spells the chant

that ends its life

and thus brings forth

one flesh that walks

the Earth in two.
